Ronnie Spector says it's her "best Christmas ever"

"I think about the Stone Pony," Spector said. "I remember when I made my comeback there. I went on tour with Bruce Springsteen back in the mid-'70s and it made me so happy."
Spector, 67, recorded Billy Joel's "Say Goodbye to Hollywood," which she inspired, with Springsteen and the E Street Band back in 1977.
"Bruce is such a gentleman," Spector said. "He just makes you feel good. He told me that he learned to sing, "Oh, oh, oh' after listening to me. Bruce is all about that area, New Jersey, New York. That's him."
Spector will be in New Jersey Thursday at Lakewood's Strand Theater and in New York Friday for a date at B.B. King's Blues Club. The iconic singer, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with her group the Ronettes in 2007, is on a Christmas tour.
The charismatic Spector is touring behind her latest holiday disc, "Ronnie Spector's Best Christmas Ever."
"I think it's my best Christmas ever," Spector said. "I'm having more fun than ever. This is my time of year and my kind of music to sing. I love Christmas songs. Call me Mrs. Claus. I think this is my year."
Spector, who still has a powerful set of pipes will sing Christmas classics but she will also belt out such hits as "Be My Baby," "Baby, I Love You" and "Baby It's You."
"I sing all of my stuff," Spector said. "I love going back to my early years. People want to hear those songs and I'm happy to play them. I love my early years."
It wasn't always easy being the lone woman in a studio full of cocksure producers, including her former husband, the legendary Phil Spector, who currently is serving a 19 years-to-life sentence in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, Lana Clarkson.
"Looking back to that time is interesting," Spector said. "I was always told what to do. But the funny thing is that it was my ideas I was doing. I just didn't get the credit. I would go into the bathroom after I would tell Phil what to do. I would get ignored but when I came out they were doing what I wanted to do. They took all of the credit, but they couldn't take me away from the microphone. I always loved to sing."
Count on hearing Spector sing for many more years to come.
"Singing is still my passion," Spector said. "It always was. I'm just as excited about recording and performing as I ever was. I'm going to be doing this for a long time because I love it."
